Korean World Cup squad ranked 9th

South Korea's World Cup squad was ranked No. 9, following England, by a sports website Monday reflecting the team's potential to advance to the Round of 16.

Sporting Life, a British online magazine, published the World Cup Power Rankings, a list of teams in terms of competitive edge.

Explaining South Korea's high position, the online magazine said the team gave a "very impressive performance in defeating Greece 2-0 in its opening World Cup game" last Saturday.

"Captain Park Ji-sung looks like he can be a big star in South Africa," the website added.

Argentina, one of strong favorites in this World Cup, was ranked No. 4 and two other competitors in Group B, Nigeria and Greece, were ranked No. 20 and No. 28, respectively.

Spain topped the list, followed by Brazil and Germany. Ghana came 10th, following South Korea.
