Wife Awarded $9M From Husband’s Lover

A jury has awarded a North Carolina woman $9 million from her husband's lover after ruling the other woman ruined their marriage, The Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.

North Carolina is one of a handful of states that allow jilted spouses to sue over affairs.

Cynthia Shackelford says her husband was a Greensboro attorney when he started an affair with Anne Lundquist before separating from his wife in April 2005.

Lundquist didn't respond to a message left by the newspaper.

Shackelford's lawyer says she might not get the full $9 million, but she wanted to send a message that the sanctity of marriage should be respected.

신시아 셱포드는 그린스보로 변호사인 자신의 남편이 앤 런드퀴스트와 바람을 피우고 난 후 2005년 4월 별거에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

현재 런드퀴스트는 신문의 질문에 응답하지 않은 상태.

셱포드의 변호사는 그녀가 9백만 달러를 다 받을 수 없을지 모르지만, 그녀는 이 소송을 통해 신성한 결혼은 존중 받아야 한다는 것을 알리고자 했다고 전했다.
