Daegu FC forward Cesinha has been voted the Korean football league's top player for the second straight month.
The Korea Professional Football League (K League) said Tuesday the Brazilian forward beat out three other candidates in the voting for the Player of the Month award for October.
This was Cesinha's eighth Player of the Month award, more than anyone in K League history.
Foreign players have won this award for every month since July, with Jesse Lingard of FC Seoul, Andrea Compagno of Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Pablo Sabbag of Suwon FC preceding Cesinha.
The winner was chosen based on votes by the K League's technical study group (accounting for 60 percent), fans voting on the K League website (25 percent) and players of EA Sports FC Online (15 percent) by Electronic Arts (EA) Sports, the league's official video game partner.
Cesinha came in third in the technical study group voting, behind Lee Dong-gyeong of Ulsan HD FC and Masatoshi Ishida of Daejeon Hana Citizen FC. But Cesinha led all candidates in the two other categories to finish with the overall voting points of 39.65.
Cesinha had two goals and an assist in Daegu's 3-2 win over Gwangju FC on Oct. 4. Then 14 days later, he scored the team's first goal and assisted Edgar's last-gasp equalizer for a 2-2 draw against Gangwon FC.
Cesinha is leading the K League 1 with 12 assists and is ninth overall with 11 goals. He is the only player this season to have reached double figures in both goals and assists.
