Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants has seen his hitting streak end at seven games.
Lee went 0-for-3 and was hit by a pitch in the Giants' 3-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit on Tuesday (local time).
Batting cleanup, Lee was hit by starter Jack Flaherty's knuckle curve in the top of the first inning. And that ended up being the only time Lee reached base in this game.
He grounded out in the fourth inning and again in the seventh inning.
In the top of the ninth, the Giants scored a run to cut the Tigers' lead to 3-1. Lee then stepped in with no out and a runner at second, but flied out to left fielder Riley Greene, who made a sliding catch.
The seven-game run was tied for the second-longest hitting streak this season for Lee, who had an eight-game streak from late March to early April.
He is now batting .281, and he still leads the Giants with 59 hits and 14 doubles.
In Cleveland, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the home team Guardians 9-5 with their South Korean utility player Kim Hye-seong on the bench.
In Monday's game, Kim had gone 0-for-3 and scored a run in his first start in six days.
