The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) said Monday it will transfer its headquarters currently located in central Seoul to PyeongChang.
“As the headquarters building is expected to be completed by Wednesday, the committee staff will gradually move into the new offices,” POCOG chief Lee Hee-beom said in a statement.
The Seoul office will be moved to the resort town starting Friday over three days, POCOG said, adding that another office at Alpensia Resort in PyeongChang will also be moved to the new building beginning June 24.
“By unifying operational processes of POCOG into one central office, we will be able to increase work efficiency,” said Secretary General Yeo Hyung-koo.
The 10,408-square-meter building with three stories can accommodate up to 700 people, POCOG said. It will hold an opening ceremony for the new office on June 27, it added.
