Turtle Marathon to be held March 19

Listen

The 455th Turtle Marathon will be held this coming Saturday involving a leisurely stroll along Mount Namsan trail as part of a no-smoking campaign.

The event, co-hosted by Dongwha Group and the Hankook Ilbo, the sister paper of The Korea Times, will start at 8:30 a.m. at Baekbeom Square in Namsan Park’s Hoehyeon area. Kim Hong-jin, president of Dongwha Corporation, will lead the event.

Participants will meet for the six-kilometer walk at the square and proceed along the north circular route toward the National Theater of Korea, then back to the square along the Namsan walking trail.

All participants will be provided with refreshments from Nongshim. And at the walk’s end, emcee Jimin will host a draw for prizes including a set of flooring material made by Dongwha Nature Flooring (retail price 2.1 million won) and a 42-inch LED TV among others. With the 2015 Miss Korea Pageant contestants in attendance, the prize drawing promises to be a fun-filled event not to be missed. Female percussion group DrumCat will stage a performance along with the a cappella group D.I.A.

Students who participate in the cleanup will receive certification for completion of three hours of volunteer work. Students can register at www.1365.go.kr.
