Chung advances to semifinals in Dubai

Korean tennis player Chung Hyeon advanced to the semifinals at the Dubai Tennis Championships men’s doubles event in the United Arab Emirates, Thursday (KST).

At the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai, the 19-year-old Korean paired with Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic, defeated Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain and Joao Sousa of Portugal, 6-7(2), 7-6(6), 11-9 in 1 hour and 53 minutes.

With this win, Chung wiped out his earlier loss to Bautista Agut. Prior to the doubles match, Chung lost to the Spaniard 0-6, 1-6 in the second round of the men’s singles.

Chung (ranked 66th) and Vesely (55th) will play against Spain’s Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez in the semifinals today (KST).
