
Kim Magnus
Cross-country skier Kim Magnus claimed silver in the men’s 1.3 km sprint free event at the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Romania, Tuesday (KST).
Kim, born to a Norwegian father and a South Korean mother, competed for Korea, finishing the race in 2 minutes, 32.09 seconds, following Klaebo Johannes Hoesflot of Norway who finished first with a time of 2:31.42. Gabrielli Giacomo of Italy placed third at 2:32.44.
Prior to the junior world championships, the 17-year-old won two gold medals (men’s 10-kilometer free cross-country skiing and men’s cross-country cross free) and one silver (1.3-kilometer sprint classic), helping Korea secure second place in the medal count at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, held from Feb. 12 to 21.
The Korean-Norwegian skier will also represent South Korea at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
