Son adds silver, two bronze in apparatus finals

Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae added a silver medal and two bronze medals to her all-around individual silver at the 2016 Moscow Grand Prix, Sunday.

Son topped 18 points in each of the apparatus finals, collecting 18.283 points in the hoop, 18.383 in the ball, 18.250 in the clubs and 18.133 in the ribbon. In the hoop final, she finished second behind Russian Aleksandra Soldatova, and finished third in the ball event, behind Soldatova and fellow Russian Margarita Mamun, who tied for gold.

She missed the podium in the clubs, but finished third in the ribbon event behind Russian Arina Averina and Soldatova.

A day earlier, she won this season’s first all-around individual silver, showing promise of a podium finish at the upcoming Rio Olympics.

Meanwhile, Son won the grand prize at the 62nd annual Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) Awards, Monday.
