South Korea’s Under-17 team is out of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile after losing 2-0 to Belgium on Wednesday.

The Korean footballers conceded a goal in each half in the round of 16 showdown at Estadio La Portada in La Serena Chile.

Belgium’s Jorn Vancamp and Matthias Verreth scored for the Belgium team. Vancamp scored 11 minutes into the first half, while Verreth struck in the 67th minute. South Korea had chances, including Lee Seung-woo missing a penalty attempt.

The South Korean team ended the competition with two goals scored and two allowed in four matches. But the U-17 team had raised expectations back home, as the last time that South Korea reached the quarterfinals of the U-17 World Cup was in 2009.
