Yang qualifies for Gwangju Universiad

London Olympics gold-medal vaulter Yang Hak-seon, 23, came fourth in the qualifying trials for the 2015 Gwangju Universiade on Saturday at Taereung National Training Center, Seoul.

Yang gained a total of 82.225 after displaying his signature techniques, Yang I and Yang II, but his landing was unstable.

The gymnast had been leading the way since the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games until he came second in the Incheon Asian Games in 2014 after injuring his thigh.

Yang will refine his techniques to prepare for the world championship trial scheduled for June 18 and 19. The vaulter will also compete in the 2015 World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland, for qualification in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
