The South Korean team picked up the silver medal in the men's three-position rifle shooting event at the Asian Games on Saturday.
The trio of Kim Jong-hyun, Han Jin-seop and Kwon Jun-cheol earned an aggregate 3,484 points in the rifle three positions ― kneeling, prone and standing ― to reach second place on the podium at Ongnyeon International Shooting Range in the country's western port city of Incheon.
China finished first with 3,502 points, with its three shooters, Zhu Qinan, Cao Yifei and Kang Hongwei, advancing into the individual final slated for later in the day. Japan scored 3,481 for bronze.
In the team component, the combined scores of three shooters for each country in the individual qualification round determine the medalists.
Two of the South Korean shooters will have a chance to win their country's eighth gold from the shooting range at this Asiad. The 29-year-old Kim, who led the silver medal-performance by shooting 1,170 points in this round, and the 33-year-old Han, who won three golds at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games including two in this discipline, qualified for the final, after finishing second and fifth, respectively.
This is the second silver for Han and Kwon at the continental games on home soil, after coming second in the team 10ｍ air rifle event and the 50ｍ rifle prone, respectively, earlier this week.
Minutes earlier, South Korea earned a bronze in the men's 10ｍ running target mixed event. Jeong You-jin finished third after North Korea's Kim Ji-song and Zhai Yujia from China. (Yonhap)
