S. Korea adds 4 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronzes

South Korea's Choi Bo-min won the gold medal in the women's individual compound archery event at the Asian Games on Saturday.

The 30-year-old outshot her compatriot Seok Ji-hyun 144-143 in a tightly-contested match.

India's Trisha Deb took the bronze after edging out Huang I Jou of Chinese Taipei 138-134. Huang had had a comfortable lead over Deb 129-120 until her penultimate arrow missed the mark entirely. The dramatic turn of events gave the medal to Deb.

In individual compound, archers shoot 15 arrows each. All arrows count toward the final tally, unlike recurve, which divides each match into sets and calculates scores by the number of sets won.

South Korean archers have already won a gold and silver medal in the team compound archery events at the Asian Games on Saturday. In women's compound, Choi, Kim Yun-hee and Seok outshot Chinese Taipei's Chen Li Ju, Huang and Wen Ning Meng 229-226. India took the bronze after beating Iran 224-217.

8th gold in shooting

Kim Min-ji of South Korea also secured the gold medal in the women's skeet event at the Asian Games on Saturday, bringing home the eighth gold from the shooting range at this Asiad.

The 25-year-old Kim claimed the first podium finish by defeating Zhang Heng of China by one point in the shoot-off at Gyeonggido Shooting Range in the city of Hwaseong, just south of Seoul. Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit from Thailand captured bronze.

Kim's achievement brought the total number of the host nation's gold medals to eight at the ongoing Incheon Asian Games. It is also her second medal of the day, as she, along with Kwak Yu-hyun and Son Hye-kyoung, picked up the silver medal in the team event of the same discipline earlier.

Kwak also advanced into the individual final, but failed to make the podium, coming fifth out of six.

Gold in cycling

South Korea's Na Ah-reum added a gold medal in the women's individual time trial road cycling at the Incheon Asian Games Saturday, bagging her third medal in cycling on her home soil.

Na, 24, clocked in at 37:54.43 in the women's road cycling time trial to finish first in the 28-kilometer race at Songdo Road Cycling Course in this western port city.

Li Wenjuan of China grabbed the silver after recording 38:46.26, and Hong Kong's Jamie Wong Wan Yiu came in third with 38:57.65.

"Nobody can know my feeling of achieving this goal that I have desired so much," said Na in tears after the match. "I have been training hard for this."

In the women's 20km point race final at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, Na fell down on the track and failed to grab any medal.

"I have never thought of falling down again," Na said, adding that she had faith in herself in Incehon.

Na is slated to participate in the women's road race on Monday, aiming for her fourth medal in Incheon after the silver in the women's team pursuit and the bronze in the women's omnium.
