Korean football forward Park Chu-young has joined Spain's top-division club Celta Vigo, the club said in its Web site seen in Seoul Saturday.

Celta Vigo said Park will play for the club on a loan from his current club, Arsenal in the English Premier League, without providing further details, including his salary.

According to British and Spanish media, Celta Vigo is believed to have spent about 1 million euros ($1.25 million) to lease the 27-year-old for one year.

Park said on the Web site that he will make efforts to acclimate himself to the club and do his best to help upgrade its stature.

In an interview with La Voz de Galicia, a Spanish daily newspaper on Friday, Park voiced his hope to become a key striker in the Spanish club, saying he is aiming to score 15 goals this season.

Park made his professional debut with FC Seoul in South Korea's K-League in 2005, and won the Rookie of the Year honor by netting 18 goals in 30 games.

He moved to AS Monaco in the top French league and played three seasons there, before Monaco was relegated to the second division in 2011. (Yonhap)
