Incheon United are interested in free agent Seol Ki-hyun in preparation for next season.
"Manager Huh Jung-moo has told the club that he wants Seol Ki-hyun as part of the team," said Incheon's vice president Kim Suk-hyun on Friday, according to Yonhap News Agency. "Most of our players are young and inexperienced and Seol could act as the pillar (of the team) if he joins."
Seol, who gained free agent status this year, ended talks with his former K-League outfit Ulsan Tigers on Tuesday and is looking for a new club.
The 32-year-old has spent much of his career overseas, and played for the 57-year-old manager as a member of the national football team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
He joined Belgium's Antwerp in 2000 and Anderlecht a year later before playing for England's Wolverhampton Wanderers, Reading and Fulham.
He is known for his contribution to the national team at the World Cup in 2002 and 2006. He joined Al Hilal in 2009 after his time in
England and played for the Saudi Arabian club for a year.
He ended his international career in 2010 and joined the Pohang Steelers where he scored seven goals and three assists. He joined the Tigers in 2011 and played a central role in helping the club make the playoffs with seven goals and 10 assists.
He was in Incheon to talk with Huh on Thursday. Seol's agency Jissen said that monetary issues are not of any concern and the final decision will be up to the player.
