Lee marks assist in Bolton loss

Lee Chung-yong of Bolton Wanderers made his eighth assist of the season in a 4-3 defeat away to Blackpool in the English Premier League (EPL), Saturday (KST).

Lee’s cross found Daniel Sturridge who headed home to tie the game at 3-3.

Lee also has four goals including one in the FA Cup this season.

In the 53rd minute through pass picked out Lee in the box. The Korean winger put in a cross past outstretched Blackpool goalkeeper Paul Rachubka for Sturridge and he was duly rewarded.

Bolton celebrated an early lead in the sixth minute through Kevin Davies but Blackpool’s Dundley Campbell equalized three minutes later before Jason Puncheon gave the home side a 2-1 lead in the 19th minute.

Bolton’s Matthew Taylor leveled the game again in the 24th but Campbell hit his second in the last minute of the first half for a 3-2 lead. Charlie Adam hit the game winning goal in the 63rd.

Lee now only needs one more offensive point to equal his own record among Koreans in the English league.

In his debut season of 2009 Lee had five goals with eight assists.

Bolton is ninth in the EPL after losing four consecutive games and its final match of the season is against Manchester City at home.
