Ji to enter this years WPS draft

Teenage Korean football star Ji So-yun is looking to join a U.S. team in the near future.

“We are preparing to enter the draft of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS),” Ji’s agent AT Sports official told The Korea Times, Monday.

“Usually the draft of the WPS has been held in late October. But as a new team (which will be a team in western New York) is poised to join from next season, the draft has been postponed a little,” the official said requesting anonymity.

Ji also said, “I heard that a new team will be formed in the WPS in the United States.”

Ji, dubbed “Ji Messi,” earned both the Silver Boot and Silver Ball awards notching eight goals in six matches in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in July helping Korea to place third in the tournament.
