SK Wyverns beat Samsung Lions 4-1 in Game 2 of the Korean Series Saturday, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven South Korean professional baseball championship.
The victory at Munhak Stadium in the western port city of Incheon, west of Seoul, gave Wyverns a clear edge over the Lions in its third quest of the Korean Series title in four years.
When Wyverns were down 0-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, third baseman Choi Jeong belted a two-run homer off Lions' starter Cha Woo-chan. He then hit back-to-back single homers in the sixth inning to turn the tide.
The Lions southpaw absorbed the loss, allowing three earned runs in 5 1/3 innings, while Wyverns relief pitcher Jun Byung-doo sealed the win. Five Wyverns pitchers together struck out six Lions batters and gave up only five hits.
In this year's Series opener on Friday, the Incheon-based Wyverns beat the Lions 9-5. The Game 3 will take place in Lions' home city, Daegu in the nation's southeastern region on Monday.
