New York Yankees reliever Park Chan-ho has been placed on the 15-day disabled list (DL) because of a mild hamstring injury.
The 36-year-old pulled his right hamstring, while warming up in the bullpen Friday (KST) during a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Park was examined by team physician Christopher Ahmad the next day and an MRI revealed a low-level strain in the same area he injured with the Philadelphia Phillies last season, causing manager Joe Girardi to proceed with caution.
``There's a possibility that he would've pitched for us next week, but you run your bullpen short and the other thing that you do is you take the chance of hurting it even worse,'' Girardi said.
Unlike his boss, the 17-year veteran wasn't worried about the injury, saying that last year's injury was in a different spot and much worse, and that he would return.
``It's not really hurt. It's just a little sore,'' Park said.
``They asked me to just think about the DL for 15 days and I'll be 100 percent ready. That's the idea."
The Yankees called up Boone Logan from the Triple-A League.
Park joined the Yankees, which he faced in the World Series in 2009, after agreeing to a $1.2 million, one-year contract in February and has established himself as a key player in the bullpen.
After having difficulty finishing one inning in his debut with the Yankees ― giving up two earned runs in 2/3rds of an inning - against the Boston Red Sox, he allowed just one run over five innings in his last two stints.
Choo Shin-soo helped the Cleveland Indians win down the stretch again, as his RBI double lifted his team to a 3-2 win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday (KST).
Tied 2-2 in the eighth inning, the 27-year-old drove in a game-winning run, hitting an extra-base hit off left-handed reliever Matt Thornton to left-center field.
The Korean also led Manny Acta's team to a 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers Friday with a three-run blast in the eighth, which ended the Indians' five-game losing streak.
The left-handed batter also got Cleveland on the board in the first inning, as Grady Sizemore tripled off White Sox starter Jake Peavy and Choo doubled home to right.
However, as the first base umpire determined Choo missed first base, calling him out, the play was ruled an RBI fielder's choice.
He lined out to second in the fourth and struck out in the sixth to go 1-for-4 with two RBIs and extended his hitting streak to six games.
He is sitting with a .324 batting average.
