Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-soo agreed on a one year deal, Thursday (KST).

According to the Associated Press, Asdrubal Cabrera, Luis Valbuena and Choo signed on for one-year contracts but specific salaries were not revealed.

The Indians rising Korean star, who averaged .300 with 20 home runs and 21 stolen bases, was anticipated to grab a jackpot for a multiple year contract just one year before becoming a free agent.

However, the Indians had to take into consideration the mandatory military service Choo will have to fulfill as a Korean national.

The only way he can get an exemption is if the Korean team wins gold at the Asian Games in November to be held in Guangzhou.

Also his new agent Scott Boras ― whom the-27-year-old signed with in March ― is rumored to have decided that signing a multi-year contract in 2011 will be better for Choo.
