Kim Seon-jong claimed gold in the clean and jerk in the men's 94-kilogram division at the World Weightlifting Championships, Friday.
The 23-year-old hoisted 218 kilograms to edge Vladimir Sedov of Kazakhstan by one kilogram to clinch the world title at Kintex in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
Kim became the second South Korean lifter to triumph at the annual event following Sa Jae-hyouk, who was victorious in the clean and jerk in the men's 77-kilogram class, Tuesday.
However, Kim failed to add another medal on the night after managing 165 kilograms in the snatch for a total of 383 kilograms, the fourth-best record.
In the same category, compatriot Kim Min-jae brought two bronze medals to Korea.
Kim, 26, finished third in the snatch after lifting 178 kilograms in the snatch and ended up with bronze with a total of 384 kilograms.
Sedov, who took gold in the snatch with 185 kilograms, won the overall title with 402 kilograms.
As of Friday, South Korea has won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals in the competition, held on home soil for the first time.
