The South Korean U-20 football team got goals from midfielder Kim Bo-kyung, forward Kim Dong-sub, midfielder Choi Ho-jeong, and striker Cho Young-cheol in a 4-0 drubbing of South Africa at the Suwon Cup in Suwon, Sunday.
Kim Dong-sub found the net in a one-on-one situation with South Africa goalkeeper after a through pass by Kim Bo-kyung in the 22nd.
With four minutes left in the first half, Kim Bo-kyung doubled the lead from right fullback Oh Jae-suk's long pass.
Choi made it 3-0 with a header from midfielder Moon Ki-han's cross at fifteen minutes after the break.
Cho, who replaced forward Choi Jung-han in the 77th, scored the fourth goal, breaking the Africans' defense line just before the whistle.
Korean team manager Hong Myung-bo was satisfied with the result.
``The best members of our team played in the game, and they performed to 120 percent of their abilities. They did better than I expected.''
South Africa team manager Serame Letsoaka also applauded the Koreans.
``Korea is a well-trained team. They are good at co-play, so we could not perform at our best.''
Korea will face Egypt, which defeated Japan 1-0, at the same place, Tuesday.
The international youth football event, which kicked off in 2003, is held biannually in Suwon. This year, Korea has welcomed Japan, Egypt and South Africa.
The event is a tune-up for Korea, Egypt and South Africa ahead of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in September in Egypt.
South Korea will be joined by the United States, Germany and Cameroon in Group C of that event.
