English newspaper The Guardian has reported that South Korean winger Lee Chung-yong will finalize a three-year, 2.2-million-pound contract with English Premiership side Bolton Wanderers now that the former FC Seoul player has been granted a work permit.
The Guardian also revealed that the 21-year-old Korean is likely to make his debut in a friendly against Scottish side Hibernian on Aug. 8.
His representative sent the club a collection of DVDs of the midfielder in action at the end of last season. The club was impressed and scouted him in a national team friendly in Seoul. Lee will be Bolton's fifth signing during the summer transfer period, following Paul Robinson from West Bromwich Albion, Sean Davis from Portsmouth, Sam Ricketts from Hull City and Zat Knight from Aston Villa.
The newspaper also reported that Manchester City had shown an interest but Lee chose Bolton, which guaranteed him a place on the first team.
``It has been my dream to play in England so I am so happy,`` Lee said after completing his medical last week. ``I now need to get to know my teammates and adjust quickly to the style of play in the Premier League.''
