Professional basketball will begin doping tests for the 2009-10 season. The Korean Basketball League (KBL) decided to adopt testing for drug and performance- enhancing substances in its general assembly in Seoul, Thursday.
The governing body of the professional basketball league will determine how the process will be managed later.
Among other professional sports in Korea, baseball has performed drug tests since September 2007, and football did its first doping test last month.
Recently, former baseball player Ma Hae-young provoked a discussion saying he had seen many Korean players using steroids during his career.
