Cleveland Indians outfielder Choo Shin-soo hit his first home run in two weeks, his 10th of the season, in a 6-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
The Busan native, batting cleanup, sent a ball over the right field fence off White Sox reliever Matt Thornton in the ninth inning at Progressive Field Monday. Choo went 2-for-3 in four plate appearances with an RBI, a run and a walk. He also improved his batting average from .292 to .296
The 26-year-old Korean had 14 dingers with 66 RBIs in 94 games last year, but the World Baseball Classic (WBC) silver medalist is on pace to shatter those totals this year. Choo has 45 RBIs so far this season.
The Indians right fielder also had a single in the second inning against White Sox starter Gavin Floyd.
While Choo had a relatively good day at the plate, his teammates had little success against Floyd, who tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing five hits while throwing 95 pitches.
The Indians have struggled of late, having lost 11 of the last 13 games, including the last three, and own the American League's worst record at 31-47.
