The South Korean women's team won a gold medal at the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Monday (KST).
The team managed a pair of 3-2 wins over France and Turkey to advance to the final, and then beat Russia 3-0 in a best-of-five series.
Morocco and Turkey finished third.
On the men's side, Turkey brushed aside a stiff challenge from Iran to grab the gold medal, while Azerbaijan and Russia settled for bronze.
The event featured WTF-recognized electronic protectors, the first of their kind in the WTF-sanctioned event. It also introduced an instant video replay system under new WTF competition rules.
The World Cup drew 23 male and 23 female teams from a total of 28 countries. After three days of round-robin preliminary rounds, the top eight teams in the men's and women's divisions advanced to the quarterfinals.
