The senior league champion Shipping-Land Vikings grabbed the 14th Kimchi Bowl, the Super Bowl of the Korea American Football Association (KAFA) in Namyangju Sport Complex Sunday.
In defeating the university champion, Dong-Eui University Turtle Fighters 20-14, the Vikings took the title for the first time.
The Turtle Fighters, which completed a Tiger Bowl treble Dec. 1, 2008, appeared to be on course for a win as running back Han Young-yoon succeeded with two touchdowns in the second quarter to give his team a 14-0 lead.
But the Vikings rebounded as their foreign quarterback Reid Cockburn managed a three-yard run in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter.
After the senior team scored, they strode to a 14-14 tie in 20 seconds through Choi Sung-jin's interception and Kim Wan-jin's two-yard touchdown.
And as Cockburn scored his second touchdown, they stunned the university champion 20-14.
The Vikings defenseman Choi picked up the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
