The Kia Tigers froze the salary of their franchise star Lee Jong-beom at 200 million won Tuesday.
The 13-year-pro had 90 hits and 38 RBIs with a batting average of .284 in 110 games.
The team, which finished sixth last season, offered him a coaching role, but Lee declined.
``Salary does not matter because I wanted to continue my career,’’ said the 38-year-old.
``I am satisfied with it, and I will try my best to show solid performances.’’
Meanwhile, right-hander Seo Jae-weong, a former U.S. Major Leaguer, has agreed to a 375 million won deal, 25 percent less than his salary last year, which stood at 500 million won.
Seo went 5-5 with a 4.08 ERA in 16 outings.
