After returning Friday to South Korea, pitcher Park Chan-ho said at a news conference that he would leave the Los Angeles Dodgers to become a free agent.
``I have a lot of potential to move to other teams,'' Park said. "If some teams want me to sign a contract for a year as a starter, I want to focus on next season more.
``Though I have worked this year not only as a starter but also as a reliever, I wonder whether the Dodgers will use me as a starter.
``I played only a few games as a starter. If I get a contract as a starter, it may be a one-year contract. If those kinds of teams come out, I should prepare during the spring camp for next year.''
Park also said he would not play for South Korea in the World Baseball Classic (WBC).
Park plans to stay in Korea for a month, during which he will attend a youth baseball competition. When Park leaves Korea, he will return to the United States for training.
