South Korea fell to Iran 2-1 in the final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Championship Saturday.

The Korean squad, two-time champions, played with a man disadvantage after Kim Dae-kwang was ejected for picking up his second yellow card in the 32nd minute. The Iranians scored in the 37th and 62nd minute through Mohsen Talebat and Kaveh Rezaei respectively

Midfielder Lee Chang pulled the score back for the Korean side in stoppage time.

Iran, a finalist in the 2000 competition, clinched its first championship.

The top four sides, Japan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) along with Korea and Iran, qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will take place in Nigeria next year.
