More than 5 million fans have attended Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) games this season, making this the first time the league has reached that attendance milestone in 13 years.
The KBO announced that 27,946 fans came to stadiums in Seoul, Incheon and Gwangju Friday, giving the league more than 5 million fans in 481 games this year. That's an increase of 26 percent more people in the stands than during the same number of games last season.
The Lotte Giants, a Busan-based club, have drawn 1.3 million fans this year, which is an increase of 76 percent from last year.
The only other time the KBO has drawn more than 5 million fans was in 1995 when it surpassed that number in 447 games.
There are still 23 regular-season games left in the KBO this season.
