Anthony Kim is getting ready to experience something new in his promising golf career.

The Korean-American golfer will make his first appearance in the Ryder Cup, when he plays for the United States at the prestigious event Sept. 19-21 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

The Ryder Cup, which is co-sponsored by the PGA of America and PGA European Tour, is a biannual tournament featuring the top players from the United States and Europe competing against each other in teams.

Kim was one of eight players who earned spots on the U.S. squad by accumulating points for their performances in professional tournaments. Four other golfers were selected by American captain Paul Azinger to complete the 12-player U.S. roster, which was finalized earlier this week.

The European team features 10 players who earned their spots by accumulating points and two who were selected by captain Nick Faldo.

Kim, who was born in Los Angeles and played college golf at the University of Oklahoma, has enjoyed a breakout season on the PGA Tour this year. The 23-year-old won the Wachovia Championship in May and the AT&T National in July. He's 15th in the world rankings and ranks seventh on this year's PGA Tour money list with $3,840,765.
