South Korea won gold medals Monday in all five badminton events at a German tournament, demonstrating its standing as a powerhouse ahead of the Beijing Olympics in August, officials said.

At the annual German Open in the western city of Mulheim, South Korean players swept all five categories of badminton -- men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles -- winning US$80,000 in prize money, said the officials at the Badminton Korea Association.

The South Korean squad will travel to England on Tuesday to join this year's All England Super Series, the second leg of its three-week long European tour, the officials said. (Yonhap)
