Choi Kyoung-ju, the top South Korean golfer who reached the quarterfinals of a prominent American tournament this week, was ranked sixth, his career-high, in the world rankings monitored here Tuesday.
The 38-year-old, who also won the PGA Tour Sony Open - the first full-field PGA event of the year -- last month, has moved up two spots since last week, ranking sixth in the weekly report by the Official Golf Ranking Web site.
Choi has won at least one tournament every year since 2005, becoming one of only four golfers, including Tiger Woods of the United States, to do so. In the Accenture Match Play Championship tournament that ended on Sunday in Arizona, Choi failed to advance to the semi-finals, claiming only $260,000 in prize money.
Woods, who prevailed in the tournament, topped this week's rankings while American Phil Mickelson was second. (Yonhap)
