Lee Kyou-hyuk, 30, of South Korea won consecutive titles at the sprint speedskating world championships in Heerenveen, Netherlands, on Sunday, news reports said.
Lee dominated the ice, winning the 500 meters at the Thialf Stadium in 34.85 seconds, the Associated Press reported, adding that the South Korean then beat Jeremy Wotherspoon, his Canadian rival for the overall title, in the final pairing of the 1,000 in 1 minute, 8.82 seconds.
Mun Joon, 26, of South Korea was third in the 500 and 1,000 to take third place in the final overall standings.Four-time world sprint champion Wotherspoon was placed second in the 500 with 34.95 but could only manage seventh in the decisive 1,000.
Wolf, a 500-meter specialist, lost a race with defending champion Anni Friesinger of Germany in the decisive 1,000-meter event, but Friesinger could not make up enough time on Wolf to keep her title.
Wolf broke the track record over 500 meters on Saturday and again lowered the mark Sunday to win in 37.60 seconds. Lee Sang-hwa of South Korea was second and Annette Gerritsen of the Netherlands third.
