The SK Group donated 1 billion won ($1.08 million) to PyeongChang's Olympics bid committee Monday.
The Gangwon Province city has been competing with Russia's Sochi and Austria's Salzburg to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, after losing out to Vancouver for the 2010 games.
SK became the latest Korean conglomerate _ a list that includes Hyundai, LG, Doosan and 37 other companies _ sponsoring PyeongChang's bid while using their global networks to help with the promotion efforts.
According to a recent report by the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, PyeongChang's hosting of the Olympics could generate about 5.2 trillion won in revenue. The International Olympic Committee will announce the host city at its general meeting in Guatemala in July.
