A man dressed in a Spider-Man outfit was seen in Jamsil Station on Seoul Metro lines 2 and 8, Saturday, attempting to calm down an aggressive homeless man.
Video footage posted on the social media outlet X, formerly Twitter, shows Spider-Man helping to calm down and restrain a man after subway workers tried to wake him up and remove him from the station. Spider-Man hops around and holds the homeless man's arms as if the two were dancing.
Speaking to Yonhap News Agency, the subway workers said Spider-Man appeared right as they were trying to remove the homeless man, who refused to follow their order to relocate and stayed until the police arrived at the scene.
Later that night, an anonymous X user uploaded a post, saying he was the one in the Spider-Man costume.
"I've been out to Jamsil in a Spider-Man outfit on weekends recently. Children enjoy it and I am happy to make them feel good. I was there (at the station), stopping the homeless man until the police came."
People who encoutered him at the subway station also shared their impressions on X.
"I asked him in English if I could take a picture of him, and he replied back 'yes' in Korean," one user wrote.
Another wrote: "I met him a few times at the station, and he always said hello to my kids."
