Air raid drills return after 6 years

A soldier from the ROK Army's chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) unit instructs children on how to wear gas masks at a youth center in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, Wednesday, during a special evacuation exercise in a border area as part of nationwide civil defense drills. Conducted at 2 p.m., these drills were the first in six years, organized in preparation for an air raid scenario and members of the public were ordered to pull their vehicles over to the side of roads and evacuate to shelters or underground facilities.
