A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck waters off South Korea's southwestern coast Saturday morning, according to the country's weather agency.
The quake occurred in waters about 123 kilometers southwest of Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, at 9:40 a.m., the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.
The epicenter was at latitude 35.72 degrees north and longitude 124.7 degrees east, the KMA said.
The quake was recorded as Level 4 on the seismic intensity scale, a magnitude that could wake people up at nighttime, and at which they would notice tremors. Windows and dishes also tend to vibrate. (Yonhap)
