The Incheon Global Campus (IGC) had a successful presentation of the admissions policies of its four foreign universities, with hundreds of high school students and parents interested in their satellite campuses in Incheon, west of Seoul, attending.

The universities are SUNY Korea, George Mason University Korea, Ghent University Global Campus and the University of Utah Asia Campus. IGC is their domestic representative.

Nearly 600 people attended the presentation on Dec. 7 at IGC's main auditorium.

In the four-hour event, officers from the universities presented their admissions policies in detail and, on the sidelines, offered individual consultation. Graduates of the schools also took part, sharing their first-hand experience and merits of studying at IGC.

“It was very helpful,” a mother said after the event. “It (the event) gave me a clear picture of how my children and I need to prepare to get admission.”

According to the IGC website, the universities have the same curriculums and programs as the home campuses and confer identical degrees.

"We had only 56 students in 2012, the first year of accepting students," IGC President Baek Ki-hoon said. "It has increased 56 times to 2,800.

"It has been only eight years since the project began, which I think is still at an early stage. But we have made a great contribution to attracting foreign-invested companies to the Incheon Free Economic Zone by forming a sound schooling environment for their children.

"We also deserve credit for nurturing Korean students' competitiveness globally and reducing the financial burden of parents who otherwise would have sent their children to overseas schools."
