Four foreign universities will jointly present their admissions information on Saturday for Korean students interested in their satellite campuses in Incheon, west of Seoul.

The universities are SUNY Korea, George Mason University Korea, Ghent University Global Campus and the University of Utah Asia Campus. The presentation was organized by the Incheon Global Campus Foundation, which represents the schools in the Incheon Global Campus (IGC), a cluster of foreign universities here.

It will take place from 10 a.m. at IGC's main auditorium.

Admissions officers from the schools will provide detailed information. Individual consultation will be available. Graduates of the schools will share their first-hand experience and merits of studying at IGC.

According to the IGC website, the universities have the same curriculum and program as the home campus and confer identical degrees to those of the home campus.

“We had only 56 students in 2012, the first year of accepting students,” IGC President Baek Ki-hoon said. “It has increased 56 times to 2,800.

“It has been only eight years since the project began, which I think is still at an early stage. But we have made a great contribution to attracting foreign-invested companies to the Incheon Free Economic Zone by forming a sound schooling environment for their children.

“We also deserve credit for nurturing Korean students' competitiveness globally and reducing the financial burden of parents who otherwise would have sent their children to overseas schools.”
