Kyung Hee University, the University of Seoul and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, which are located close to one another in Dongdaemun-gu, northeastern Seoul, will hold a sports exchange event in September.

The event is co-hosted by the student councils and club associations of the three universities, the so-called “Dongdaemun trio,” under the slogan of “We Move,” which means participants will “move” their bodies and “move” their hearts through the program.

“Kyung Hee University, the University of Seoul and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies are close to one another centering around Hoegi Station, but the three have never held a sports exchange,” a member of the organizing body said. “While seeking ideas for a joint event, we thought of the popular annual sports competition between Yonsei University and Korea University and decided to make a similar sports program.”

They will hold eight sporting events ― men's and women's football, men's basketball, coed tennis, women's dodgeball and three e-sports games ― are “League of Legend,” “Overwatch” and “Crazyracing Kartrider.”

Each university will pick its players and they will hold an opening ceremony at the University of Seoul, Sept. 9.

From Sept. 10 to 18, preliminary matches will be held on their school campuses to pick the top two in each event and finals will be held between Sept. 23 and 27.

During the sports exchange, performances by university clubs will also be held together with academic seminars.

“Unlike other universities' sports exchanges where only athletes of the university teams or the schools' sports clubs can participate, our event allows anybody to sign up. We pursue an amateur level of competitions and that makes our exchange program unique,” said Kang Seung-koo of the University of Seoul who leads the event.
