Taekwondo demonstrations in Namsangol Hanok Village have returned for a 13th season, loaded with a variety of traditional and creative displays of the nation's martial art, according to Seoul City, Thursday.

The annual event that kicks off Friday will feature performances every Friday to Sunday until Oct. 31 with the 25-minute show being held twice a day, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
During the summer season from June 3 to Aug. 29, the demonstrations will be held in Insa-dong, Myeong-dong or the Daehangno district due to the hanok village's planned repair works.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has hosted the taekwondo demonstration since 2007, receiving rave reviews from foreigners as well as locals for its diverse performances.
Demonstration teams from the Third Republic of Korea Army, Kyungmin University and Seoul Midong Elementary School will show off traditional taekwondo, as well as the martial art in combination with K-pop, musicals and other genres.
The city government will also run a taekwondo experience program for foreigners, through which participants can learn the basics and even break some boards. It is scheduled to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday for one hour. Those who are interested in the program can apply at
