A 2.5-magnitude
hit the southeastern city of Gyeongju early Thursday.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and fire authorities received calls from people surprised by the pre-dawn tremor. It caused no property damage or casualties, KMA officials said.
The quake occurred at 5:31 a.m. about five kilometers south-southwest of the city at a depth of 17 kilometers.
The KMA said the latest seismic activity was not considered an aftershock of the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the city on Sept. 12, 2016.
