According to the district office, Friday, Kim, 53, won the prize presented by the National Assembly's Gender Equality and Family Committee for her leadership, professionalism and commitment to the local community and the country.
The annual Korean Woman Leader Awards are sponsored by the Korea Press Association and the National Assembly.
“I appreciate all the staff at Eunpyeong-gu Office who work hard to improve the community, and people who have helped the district become the largest collector of Red Cross membership fees for the 11th straight year among Seoul's 25 districts,” said Kim, who took office in July after winning the local elections in June.
Since her inauguration, she has made efforts to make the most of women working at the district office, based on individual capabilities. Kim made headlines in September after being named the first female personnel department chief in the history of the district office.
In addition, its PR and welfare planning teams are also headed by women.
Eunpyeong-gu Office is recognized for its commitment to creating job opportunities for the elderly and other welfare policies.
Kim began her political career in 2003 after being elected as a district council member in a by-election. She also served as a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council from 2010 to 2018.
