Police have arrested a man who fired more than 10 shots from a BB gun in an attempt to disrupt a feminist group protest.

Earlier on Oct. 6 near Hyehwa Subway station, the man, a student in his 20s, fired the shots during a protest by about 6,000 people against the judiciary's leniency toward men in its rulings on sexual assault cases.

The man was immediately taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

The protesters targeted what they claim is police discrimination against women. The protesters say that police act promptly in sexual assault cases where women are suspects, while dragging their feet when men are suspects.

They also pointed out it took more than a decade to shut down SoraNet, a porn site where illicitly filmed footage of women was shared among male users.
