A fireworks event was held as scheduled on Saturday night at Yeouido Hangang Park, Seoul, after Typhoon Kong-rey moved out of the Korean peninsula earlier in the afternoon.

The Seoul International Fireworks Festival (SIFF) 2018 brought about 1 million people near the Han River, including 600,000 people in Yeouido and 300,000 people in Ichon of Yeongdeungpo County, according to an official at Hanwha Group, the organizer of the fireworks event.

The SIFF is an annual event that has been held since 2000. Every year, major fireworks teams from Korea and abroad perform fireworks displays to light up the night skies of Yeouido.

This year, the festival featured firework displays by teams from Spain, Canada, and Korea.
