A minor 2.8-magnitude earthquake jolted South Jeolla Province in the southwestern part of the peninsula shortly after noon Sunday.
The quake happened at 12:18 p.m. with the epicenter 17 kilometers east-northeast of Boseong-gun county at a depth of 16 kilometers, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
Fire stations received nearly 30 phone calls, but there were no reports of casualties or property damage.
“It was a minor tremor, but many people felt it because the epicenter was inland,” said an KMA official.
Two minor quakes jolted Nonsan and Ulsan on Wednesday -- 2.4-magnitude at 2:11 p.m. and 2.1-magnitude at 12:10 p.m.
