Chung-Ang University has been removed from the QS World University Rankings 2018 after one of its officials fabricated data to boost its standing.

According to Chung-Ang and its student union, Wednesday, the school has been ruled out of the rankings after it fabricated “employer reputation” data, one of the evaluation items.

Employers, not the school, are supposed to write reviews of Chung-Ang graduates in terms of their performance in workplaces, but a Chung-Ang official did the job with intent to raise its ranking.

Chung-Ang said the official will be punished soon according to school rules.

Its student union has asked Chung-Ang to reveal all the details of the incident, which gravely damaged the school’s reputation.

Chung-Ang was ranked 386th in the 2017 assessment, up from 461st from the previous year.
