President Lee Jae Myung is set to host a dinner with the leadership of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) on Tuesday, his office said, with discussions expected to cover the results of Lee's recent overseas trip and key pending issues.

Lee will meet with DPK Chair Jung Chung-rae and floor leader Kim Byung-ki, marking their first such gathering since August.

The dinner was arranged for Lee to share the outcomes of his four-nation trip to the Middle East and Africa last month, and discuss follow-up measures on the annual parliamentary audit, the office said.

Their meeting comes amid a parliamentary deadlock over the DPK's push to pass a set of contentious judiciary reform bills.

The DPK, which holds a majority in the National Assembly, has been pushing for a bill on creating a special tribunal to handle insurrection cases stemming from former President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed martial law bid.

The party has also sought to pass legislation that would punish judges and prosecutors for intentionally distorting legal principles or manipulating facts in a case under trial or investigation.

Both initiatives have been met with resistance among the opposition and the judiciary.
